Cruise only writes about things you've told it. If you have a new range or an event coming up, tell Cruise in one of the ways below and it can write about it.
Reply to a check-in
A check-in is a short email from SplashSend asking what's new in your business. Reply in your own words, for example “The new speckled glaze mugs go on sale on Friday, and the studio is closed on Monday the 24th.” Cruise can use your three most recent replies in the emails it writes over the next 30 days. Something that's only true for a short while, like a sale this weekend, stops being used once it has passed. A reply leads one email, and after that it's only mentioned where it fits. A reply with no news in it, such as “all good”, isn't kept.
- On the Cruise page, under Fine tuning, click Your check-ins.
- Switch on Send check-ins and choose how often, from every week to every 4 weeks.
- Under Send my check-in to, type the address it should go to, or leave it blank to use your account email. It can be your own address, a team member's, or your verified sender address.
Send one now sends a check-in straight away so you can see it arrive, up to three an hour. It doesn't change your schedule. Cruise only reads replies sent from your account email, a member of your team or the check-in address.
Add it to your Calendar
- Go to Calendar, click the day it starts and choose Add an idea.
- Give it a Title, and put the details in the Description, such as the time and the place.
- Set the End Date if it runs for more than one day.
- Switch on Available to Cruise and click Save changes.
Cruise can then mention it in emails sent in the two weeks before it starts, and while it's running. It only uses what you've written in the idea, so include anything you'd like said. Ideas added by a data set don't have this switch. To let Cruise use them, switch on Let Cruise use this for the set.
Let Cruise read a data set
If you keep your news in Data, such as a list of workshops, open the set, go to its Settings tab and switch on Let Cruise use this. You can also switch sets on and off under What Cruise knows in Fine tuning. Cruise reads the row your emails use or, for a set with dates, up to three rows dated from the send day to three days after.
Set the subject of one email
To steer a particular email, open its day on your Calendar and type a subject line at the top, for example “Speckled mugs, fresh from the kiln”. Then click Generate Now, or Regenerate if it's already written. Cruise writes the email about your subject, and keeps your subject if the email is written again.
If your subject mentions an offer, give the details in a check-in reply or a Calendar idea as well, because Cruise only states facts you've given it.
What Cruise won't say unless you've told it
Every line Cruise writes is checked against what you've given it. A line is taken out if it claims something like:
- a discount, a code, a deadline, free delivery, or a price that isn't in your shop
- that something is new, back, limited or nearly sold out
- that something happened or will happen, such as a launch or a closure
- what customers say, or how popular something is
- how you make things, or that you take custom orders or commissions
- awards, press, customer numbers or years in business
- where or when a photograph was taken, or that it shows your premises, staff or customers
- that what's shown is your whole range
If an email should say one of these, tell Cruise first in one of the ways above. For a fact that's always true, such as your postage costs, add it to your Brand Description under How you sound.
Cruise writes dates and spelling the way they're written in your country, which it takes from Setup → Business address.
