Your sender details are the name and email address on every email you send. You set them in Setup → Sender details, and your sender email has to be verified before a campaign or Cruise email can go out.

Choosing a name and an address

  • Sender name is the name people see in their inbox. Use the name they know you by, such as Wrenfield Pottery. A name like Newsletter or Info is easy to overlook.
  • Sender email is where replies go, and the address your emails come from once your domain is set up. Use an address at your own domain, such as hello@wrenfieldpottery.co.uk, and one you check, because people will reply to it.

You can verify a Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo address, but you can't set up those domains, because you can't add records to them. Your emails would always go out from SplashSend's shared address.

Verifying your sender email

  1. Go to Setup. It opens on Sender details.
  2. Type your Sender name and Sender email.
  3. Click Send verification code. A 6-character code of letters and numbers is emailed to that address.
  4. Type the code into Verification code and click Verify.
Type the 6-character code from the email, then click Verify.
Type the 6-character code from the email, then click Verify.

The section then says Verified and ready to send. If the address is at your own domain, the records for it are prepared at the same time, and you can click Go to Domain to set the domain up next.

Once your sender email is verified, go straight on to your domain.

What people see until your domain is set up

Your emails go out from noreply@send.splashsend.com with your sender name on them, and replies come to your sender email. Once your domain is authenticated, they come from your sender email itself. See Authenticating your domain.

If the code doesn't arrive

  • Look in your spam or junk folder for an email from SplashSend with the subject “Verify your sender email - SplashSend”.
  • Check the address in the form. If it's wrong, correct it and click Send verification code again.
  • Click Resend code under the code box. You can send up to five codes in ten minutes, and three an hour to the same address, then you'll need to wait.
  • A code works for 24 hours, and each new code replaces the last one. If you're told the code didn't match, use the one in the newest email.

Emails waiting for verification

Campaigns and Cruise emails can't be sent until your sender email is verified, and a campaign can't be scheduled. A drip can't be switched on. Emails from a drip that's already on wait, and go out once the address is verified.

Changing your sender details later

Click Change. If you only change the name, click Save and it's saved straight away. If you change the address, click Save and verify new address and enter the code we email to it straight away, because until you do your emails can't go out (unless your domain is already authenticated). If the new address is at a different domain, you'll need to set that domain up too.
