Before an email goes to your people, check it in a real inbox, and ask anyone who needs to sign it off for their notes.
Send a preview
- In the designer, click Send a preview at the top right.
- Type an email address, or leave the box empty to send it to the address you sign in with.
- Click Send. The box shows On its way once it has gone. It also warns you if a button is for a form that's been deleted, or if a button has no link and there's no website address in Setup for it to use, because a real send would stop on either.
- Open the preview on your phone as well as your computer.
The design is saved first, so the preview shows your latest changes. It comes from “SplashSend previews”, with the design's name in the subject. You can send up to 10 previews a minute. Addresses outside your team, meaning anyone other than the account owner, your teammates and your verified sender address, can get 20 previews a day between them, and no previews go out while sending is paused on your account.
A preview isn't sent to one of your people, so a few things differ from the real send:
- Personal touches are filled in with your own details, so a first-name pill shows your first name. Any other detail is left blank.
- Every block shows, including blocks you've limited to some people.
- The unsubscribe and email preferences links open a page saying what they do in the real email.
- An Ask for reviews block shows a single Leave a review button, and a What they left behind block shows a note where the products will go.
Ask for notes with Review
Click Review to share the design with someone who needs to approve it, such as a business partner. They don't need a SplashSend account.
- Click Review, then Copy review link, and send the link to your reviewer.
- They click or tap the email where they want to leave a note, or click Add a general note for one about the whole email. The first time, they're asked for their name.
- Their notes appear beside your design as they add them. The badge on Review counts the open ones.
- Click the tick on a note to mark it done, and Back to editing to carry on working. Only the person who wrote a note can change its words, but you can mark any note done or delete it.
Your reviewer always sees your latest saved design. Stop sharing switches the link off for good. If you share again, you get a new link, and the notes already left are kept.
What stops an email from sending
When you send a campaign, or Cruise sends an email, the design is checked first. The send stops, with a message saying what to fix, if:
- there's no unsubscribe link
- a product card has no product chosen
- a button has no link, and there's no website address in Setup or connected store for it to use
- a button is for a form that's been deleted
- it has a What they left behind block, which only a drip can fill in
A drip runs the same checks on its emails, apart from the last one, before you can switch it on.
A missing postal address doesn't stop the send. A campaign's send window shows a note in amber, and the Cruise page shows one at the top.
