The image editor makes pictures, such as a sale banner with your own words on it or a tidied-up product photo. It's on every plan, including Free.

Opening it

  • To start a new picture, click New design on the Media page, or on the Designs page and then choose Image.
  • To work on a photo you already have, click it in Media, then the edit button in its panel (Edit image). It opens on a new canvas named “Edit of” and the photo's name, and your original photo doesn't change.

The canvas

With nothing selected, the bar below the canvas shows its size. Click the size to pick another, such as Email banner (1200 × 600) or Square (1080 × 1080), or type your own width and height. The same bar gives the canvas a background colour or a gradient.

Adding things

The dock on the left adds to the canvas. Click Text or Table to add one in the middle of the canvas, or drag it to where you want it. Image, Stamps and Shapes open a panel: click what you want, or drag it into place.

  • Text, in any font from Google Fonts, which you can search by name.
  • Image, from your Media or from stock photos (Pexels).
  • Stamps, ready-made stickers.
  • Shapes, with a search for icons.
  • Draw, with a pen, a marker, a highlighter or an eraser.
  • Table, for a small grid of words such as opening times.
  • Layers, a list of everything on the canvas. Drag to change the order; the top of the list is in front.

Working on a photo

Select a photo on the canvas and its own bar appears, with Swap image, Crop, Adjust, Filters and Corners.

  • Crop offers shapes such as Square, 4:3 and 16:9, or Free. Apply crop saves a new cropped copy and keeps the original in your Media.
  • Adjust sets the brightness, contrast, saturation, blur and opacity.
  • Filters has ready-made looks, from Vivid and Warm to B&W and Noir.
  • Corners rounds the photo's corners.

Saving and undo

Your picture saves as you go. The arrows at the top right undo and redo changes. To keep working on it later, find it in Media, where Designs in the source menu lists the pictures you've made.

Using it in an email

Click Copy for email at the top right. The picture is saved to your Media, and you can choose it in an email's image block. Download saves it to your computer as a PNG, named after your design.

Words you add in the image editor become part of the picture, so an inbox that hides pictures hides them too. Keep the main message in a text block as well, and give the picture alt text in your email.
