If you email people in the US or Canada, the law there requires a postal address in every marketing email. SplashSend adds yours to the footer of each email you send. You can send without one, and you see a note before a campaign goes out until you add it.

Add or change your address

  1. Go to Setup → Business address.
  2. Fill in Address line 1, City, Country and Postal / ZIP code. If your country isn't in the list, choose Somewhere else and type it in. The postal code is then optional, because some places don't use one.
  3. If you're in the United States, Canada, Australia, India, Brazil or Mexico, fill in State, province or region as well. Everywhere else it's optional.
  4. Use Address line 2 for a unit or building name if you need one.
Your address saves on its own once the required boxes are filled in.
Your address saves on its own once the required boxes are filled in.

There's no save button. The address saves on its own once the required boxes are filled in, and Saved shows below the form for a moment. Until then, a note such as Add a city to save tells you what's missing.

You can use your shop or studio, your home if you work from there, a PO box or a virtual office address.

To remove your address, empty all the boxes. Your emails then go out without one.

Website URL

The same page has a Website URL box, for example https://wrenfieldpottery.co.uk. A button in your emails that doesn't have a link of its own goes to this address. The box is optional and saves on its own.

If the box is empty and you've connected a Shopify store, those buttons go to your store instead. If there's neither, a button with no link holds the email back until you give the button a link in the designer or fill in this box.

  • A campaign or a Cruise email won't send, and you'll see “A button in this email doesn't link anywhere.”
  • A drip can't be switched on while one of its emails has a button like that.

How it appears in your emails

Your address prints on one line in the footer, with commas between the parts, for example: 4 Maltings Yard, Wrenfield, Suffolk, IP13 7QX, United Kingdom.

Your address appears in the footer of every email.
Your address appears in the footer of every email.

The footer is part of your Header & Footer, the first card in Designs. It takes your address from Setup, so after you change your address, every email you send shows the new one. If you edit your Header & Footer, keep the address in it.

If your emails don't show an address

SplashSend checks for your address before an email goes out. A missing address doesn't stop anything sending. A campaign's Send Campaign window shows a note in amber, and so does the top of the Cruise page:

  • You haven't added a postal address, so this email won't show one. Add it as above.
  • This email doesn't show your postal address. The address has been taken out of the email, usually while someone edited the Header & Footer. Put it back, or type your address into the design.

An email sent without an address leaves the footer's address line out.
