An app of your own connects SplashSend to something only your business uses, such as your booking page, your till or a website you had built. SplashSend gives you a key and a brief to paste into the AI tool you build with. Only your account can use it, and we don't need to check it.
Making an app is free on every plan. The account owner and admins can make them, up to 10 an account.
Make it
Click Apps in the menu, then Apps you've made, under Make an app on the left.
- Leave Just this account chosen and click Continue.
- Give it a name, and tick what it needs, such as Add and change people or Send events. It can't do anything you leave unticked.
- Click Make it.
The developers page has four examples to start from, such as sending bookings in as events.
Its key
The app's page opens with its key. Copy it straight away, because SplashSend only shows it once. Add it to your AI tool as a secret named SPLASHSEND_API_KEY, and never paste it into a chat or a web page.
Lost it, or think someone else has it? Click Make a new key. The old key stops working at once, so give the new one to your app straight after.
The key only works from a server. A web page that sends it is refused, because anyone visiting the page could copy it.
Build it with your AI
Under Build it with AI, click Copy the brief. Paste it into your AI tool as your first message. The brief says how to reach SplashSend, lists what the app may do, and says how to keep the key safe. The key itself isn't in it.
Building in an AI code editor? Add SplashSend's docs to it too, so your AI can look up any part of the API and check a request before it sends it. The address is on the developers page.
Test mode
A new app starts in test mode. It can add people and send events, but nothing it does starts a drip or sends an email, and no webhooks are sent for it.
- Clear what it made deletes the people it added while testing, with the events and orders it sent in. You can't undo it.
- Switch to live turns it on for real. From then on, what it does can start drips and send emails, as anything else on your account can.
- A live app has Back to test mode at the top of its page.
What it did
The app's page lists its latest requests, newest first, for 7 days. A request that didn't work is highlighted, with the message the app got back, such as a permission it doesn't have. Tick Only problems to see just those.
Click Copy for your AI beside a problem and paste it into your AI tool. It copies the request, the answer and where SplashSend's guide explains it, so your AI can fix the code.
Changing or deleting it
- Change its details changes its name, what it should do and what it needs. Its key keeps working, with the new permissions.
- Delete this app, at the bottom of its page, stops its key at once. The people and events it sent in stay.
Apps you've made lists each of your apps, with its requests today and how many had a problem.
Good to know
- Each app can make 100 requests a minute.
- A private app stays private. To make an app other businesses can install, see Making an app for every SplashSend account.
- A key made in Setup → API keys makes a private app too, live from the start. See API keys and what they can do.
- For each request the API takes, see Using the API.
