How unsubscribing works
Every email you send includes an unsubscribe link. When someone clicks it, they’re immediately marked as unsubscribed and won’t receive any more emails from you.
Preference centre
In addition to the unsubscribe link, every email includes a link to the preference centre. This lets people choose which types of emails they want to receive instead of unsubscribing entirely.
The preference centre shows the email categories you’ve configured. For example, you might set up “Marketing” and “Product updates” as separate categories — people can then opt out of one without losing the other. Categories are managed in the admin panel.
Can I re-subscribe someone?
You can change someone’s status back to “subscribed” in their profile, but only do this if they’ve explicitly asked to be re-subscribed. Re-subscribing people without their consent violates anti-spam laws.
Bounces and suppression
- Hard bounce — The email address doesn’t exist. The person is suppressed automatically and won’t receive emails.
- Soft bounce — Temporary issue (inbox full, server down). We retry, but after 3 failures the person is suppressed.
- Complaint — Someone marked your email as spam. They’re automatically unsubscribed and suppressed.
