A test shows you the email as it lands in a real inbox, so you can check it on your phone as well as your computer and catch a broken link or a typo before your people see it.

Sending a test to yourself

  1. Pick a design on the Design step of your campaign. A Send test button appears beside Open full preview. It's on the last step too, under Send a test first.
  2. The button says who the test will go to, for example “to me”. Click it to send.

A message under the button confirms where it went.

Sending to other people

  1. Click the small arrow on the right-hand side of the Send test button.
  2. Under Send a preview to, tick yourself or anyone on your team. Your team is set up in Setup → Team.
  3. To add someone else, type their address under Add another email and click the plus.
  4. Click Send test.
Choose who gets the test. You can pick up to five people.
Choose who gets the test. You can pick up to five people.

You can send to up to five people at once, and your choice is remembered for next time.

When an A/B test is on, the menu also offers Variant A and Variant B. Pick one to send that version.

How a test differs from the real thing

  • The subject line starts with [Test].
  • Personal touches are filled in with your own details, so a first-name pill shows your first name. Any other detail is left blank.
  • The unsubscribe and preferences links open a page that says what they do in the real email. Nobody is unsubscribed, and clicks aren't counted.
  • The preview line after the subject is the campaign's preview text, as in the real email.
  • Tests don't count towards your monthly sends.

If the test doesn't arrive

  • If you see “Your sender email isn't verified yet”, the address your emails come from hasn't been verified. Go to Setup → Sender details.
  • You can send up to 30 tests an hour. After that, wait a little while and try again.
  • Check your spam or junk folder, and check the address in the picker.

In the designer, Send a preview sends a design on its own, to you or to an address you type.
