Choose how it appears

In the form's Design tab, open Where it shows and pick an option under How it appears.

  • In the page: the form sits in a page, wherever you put it.
  • Pop-up: it comes up over the page. Behind it sets how the page looks while it's open, such as dimmed or blurred.
  • Slide in from a corner: a card that slides in at the corner you choose.
  • Strip across the top or bottom: a bar along one edge of the page.

For a pop-up, slide-in or strip, When sets what brings it up: As soon as they arrive, After a few seconds, Once they scroll or When they go to leave. Phones and tablets have no mouse, so there When they go to leave brings it up once they've scrolled halfway down the page. Someone who closes it isn't asked again for a week, and someone who fills it in isn't asked again for six months. With website tracking on, a form that signs people up also stays away for 30 days from anyone who arrives from one of your emails.

On your Shopify store

With your Shopify store connected, the first card under Add to your site on the form's Display tab is called On your Shopify store. There's no code to paste on Shopify. Both ways below come with the SplashSend app from the Shopify App Store, and they stay in place when you update your theme. If you switch to a different theme, add the block and switch on the app embed in that theme too.

  • In the page: in your theme editor, open the page and choose Add block, then Apps, then SplashSend form. In SplashSend, switch on Use this form for the form the block should show. To show a different form in one block, type that form's name into the block's setting.
  • A pop-up, slide-in or strip: in your theme editor, open App embeds and switch on SplashSend's Pop-ups and tracking. In SplashSend, switch on Show on my store, and it comes up on every page of your store.

Open theme editor on the card takes you straight there. One form at a time can be the block's form, and one can come up over your store; switching on another switches the first off.

On another website

  1. In the form's Display tab, under Add to your site, choose Script and click Copy code.
  2. Under Where does it go?, pick your website builder, such as WordPress / WooCommerce or Squarespace, to see the exact steps.
  3. Paste the code where the steps say. For a form in the page, that's where you want it to appear. A pop-up, slide-in or strip goes in a part every page shares, such as the footer.
  4. Save or publish your website.
Copy the code, then follow the steps for your website.

The Script code always shows your latest design, so you don't need to copy it again after changes. The HTML version is a fixed copy with the design you have now. It can only sit in the page, so a pop-up, slide-in or strip needs the Script code.

Some website builders only run added code on certain plans. Squarespace needs its Business plan or above, and Wix needs a premium plan with your own domain. The steps tell you when this applies.

As a link or a QR code

Every form also has a page of its own that we host, with a small “Powered by SplashSend” line at the bottom. When the form has no picture or background of its own, your logo or business name sits above it. Under Or share a link, click Copy for the link, Open page to see it, or Download QR for a QR code to print, such as on a card in your shop. The link also suits your social media bio.

Seeing how it's doing

At the foot of the Display tab, Views shows how many people saw the form and Answers how many sent it. Completion is the share of views that ended in an answer. Click Refresh to update them.
