The third step of a campaign, Who gets it, has three cards to choose from.
- All people sends to everyone who's subscribed.
- Groups & lists lets you tick as many groups and lists as you like. Someone who's in more than one of them gets the email once. When you have lots, a search box helps you find the one you want.
- Pick people lets you search by name or email and tick the people you want. Only subscribed people are listed, up to 100 at a time, so search to find anyone else.
How many people, and who
The number beside Audience is how many people will get the email. Click See who to see their names.
The number can be smaller than the group or list you picked, because some people are always left out.
- People who've unsubscribed.
- People whose emails have been stopped, because their address bounced or they marked one of your emails as spam.
- Anyone on a list set to Never email these people, even if they're also in a group you ticked.
The groups under We never email these aren't offered here at all.
The count also leaves out anyone who asked to hear from you less often and has had an email too recently, and anyone who turned off the topic you chose under Email category. It can still change a little by the time the email goes out.
Once a campaign has gone, See who lists everyone it was sent to, including anyone who has unsubscribed since.
Sending to one topic
If you've set up subscription topics, an Email category box appears. Choose the topic this email belongs to, such as Classes, and anyone who turned that topic off on their preferences page is left out. Leave it on No category to send to everyone you picked. See Unsubscribes and preferences.
A warning about sending too often
If some of the people you picked have had five or more emails in the last seven days, a yellow note says how many. They'll still get this one, and you might choose to wait a day or two.
Good to know
- Groups are worked out when the campaign sends. If you schedule it, anyone who joins a group you picked before then gets it too.
- To email a handful of people you've found in People, tick them there and choose New campaign. The campaign opens with them already picked.
- On the Free plan, a campaign that would use more sends than you have left this month won't go. The message tells you how many sends are left.
