Connecting your Shopify store brings your customers, orders, products and unfinished checkouts into SplashSend and keeps them up to date. See What comes across from Shopify for exactly what's included.
Connect your store
You connect a store by installing the SplashSend app from the Shopify App Store. You start in SplashSend.
- Sign in to SplashSend, click Apps in the menu and open Shopify.
- Click Install. SplashSend shows what Shopify will share and what the app adds to your store.
- Click Continue to Shopify. The SplashSend listing on the Shopify App Store opens in a new tab.
- Click Install there, and approve the access Shopify asks for.
- Shopify brings you back to Shopify's page in SplashSend, which says Shopify is installed and shows your store under Connected Store.
Install the app in the same browser you're signed in to SplashSend with, so the store connects to your account.
If you install from Shopify first
If you install SplashSend from the App Store without being signed in, Shopify sends you to SplashSend to create an account. An account created this way is billed through Shopify, so you choose and change your plan on Shopify's plan page.
If you already have a SplashSend account, sign in to it instead, in the same browser and within a week of installing. The store then connects to your existing account, and your billing stays as it is.
Once SplashSend is installed, you can open it from Apps in your Shopify admin.
After connecting
SplashSend starts bringing everything in straight away. The Shopify card, on Shopify's page in Apps, shows when each part of your store last synced. Sync now checks your store again for anything new or changed, for example after a big change in your shop. It also brings across anyone who has unsubscribed in Shopify since the last sync.
The first sync never starts your drips, so your existing customers don't all get your welcome email.
One store per account
Each SplashSend account connects to one Shopify store. To connect a different store, disconnect the current one first.
If the connection stops working
If Shopify stops accepting SplashSend's access, the card says Your Shopify connection expired. Click Reconnect and approve the app again in Shopify. Everything already in SplashSend stays.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect on the Shopify card, then click Disconnect again to confirm. Syncing stops, and the people brought in from Shopify stay. SplashSend stays installed in your store, and opening it from Apps in your Shopify admin connects the store again, which brings everything in again as the first sync did. To remove it completely, uninstall SplashSend in your Shopify admin (Settings, then Apps). 48 hours after you uninstall, Shopify asks SplashSend to delete your store's data, so its orders, products, collections and unfinished checkouts are deleted, along with the revenue figures that came from them. The people it brought in stay. If you install SplashSend again within those 48 hours, nothing is deleted.
If your plan is billed through Shopify, uninstall SplashSend from your Shopify admin instead (Settings, then Apps). That disconnects the store and ends the plan Shopify was billing, and your account moves to the Free plan. Your store's data is deleted 48 hours later, as above.
More from the app
The SplashSend app also adds three things to your Shopify theme. Pop-ups and tracking is an app embed: it shows your pop-up forms and records which products people look at. The SplashSend form block puts one of your forms on a page, and the SplashSend reviews block shows reviews you've chosen to put on your site. See Website tracking and Putting a form on your website.
